Brief: Create a film documenting what it's like working on inclusive education placements with VSO.
Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) wanted a film that showcased what it’s like to work on one of their placements in the Kratie Province. VSO is a charity that brings people from different backgrounds, expertise and experiences together to fight poverty. Their projects are centered around healthcare, education and livelihoods in 23 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific. This film I directed, documents a 3-month placement with the focus of implementing sustainable, inclusive education projects in Cambodia.
This was a big eye-opener for me into how International Development Projects are run and the benefits of cross-cultural collaboration in approaching complex issues. The extensive Khmer cultural insights and relationships I built while I was out there, also taught me how to openly learn about new cultures, and make them accessible to others.
